Job Description

Overall Purpose of Job:
  • Establish OSS Engineering as a preferred safety design partner for his key customer(s)
  • Create profitable and convincing customer individual engineering strategies out of OSS Engineering capabilities to win profitable business
  • Ensure the OSS Engineering organization delivers services as agreed (e.g. launch readiness etc.)
  • Implement global OSS standard products into customers strategies and purchase plans
  • Monitor, maintain and communicate an understanding of the status of all development activities between OSS Engineering and the customer
Major Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and evaluate customers current and potential needs
  • Outline an individual OSS Engineering customer strategy containing
  • Early development, incl. innovation and technology
  • Product planning and development
  • Management of quality, product liability, performance
  • Aftermarket and Service requirements and opportunities
  • Establish close communication to all the critical levels of decision making and influence with the key customer
  • Build up a network with the customer’s organization
  • Engineering-Lead for Battle Plans
  • Manage the communication between the key customer and Engineering
  • Establish and monitor routine communication between the customer's organization and OSS Engineering functions
  • Deliver relevant information from the customer / Co-suppliers to the OSS organization (see INTERFACES)
  • Define or specify OSS Engineering’s contributions or OSS Engineering’s projects for the customer and ensure a similar understanding of expectations on both sides
  • Actively promote OSS capabilities, standardized (“STEP”) technologies, products and services into the customers plans and specifications
  • Facilitate and coordinate Customer Technology Reviews with the customer
  • Ensure project proposals are within OSS Engineering’s strategy, cost policy, capabilities and resources
  • Negotiate R & D cost recovery policy
  • Monitor critical project status and performance of TRW OSS Engineering (launch, quality, profitability, performance) and escalate as necessary
  • Safeguard product launch, meet customer’s specifications, agreements and expectations, in terms of Engineering deliverables
  • Benchmark customer, co-supplier and competitor activity and communicate to Product Lines and Innovation groups
  • Facilitate the cooperation between TRW and co-suppliers, escalate when necessary
  • Ensure transparency of all development activities within Key Account Engineering
  • Monitor and seek an understanding of Engineering Supplier Ratings; communicate to TRW functions. Establish corrective action where needed.
  • Assist recovery of customer funding for engineering changes, services and samples
  • Define or specify OSS Engineering’s contributions or OSS Engineering’s projects for the customer and ensure a similar understanding of expectations on both sides

Job Requirements

Education Requirements
• Bachelors/ Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Mechanics, Vehicle Technology, or equivalent majors.

Experience and Skill Requirements
Experience:
• Minimum 15 years experience in development at automobile supplier industry, minimum 8 years management position
• Multi-international company experience would be plus

Key Competencies:
• Strong leadership and problem solving and decision making skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills/ communication skills
• Well knowledge in development of airbag restraint and seatbelt (plus)
• Well knowledge with PC and application programs
• English knowledge, fluency in both written and spoken, as interface are mostly external and international
• Ability to delegate work
• Able to work under different cultures / big challenges
• JOEM experience
• Open to adjust himself or herself to changes
• Japanese is preferred
