AR Supervisor
Northville

Position Summary: This position is responsible for supervising and directing individuals in the completion of daily tasks and projects within the AR function for all internal and external customer accounts. Provides support for Shared Service Center (SSC) personnel, as well as assisting on a variety of special projects and reports as needed.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate operations, review work of personnel, maintain records, enforce company rules, provide input on team performance, make recommendation to hire or fire, initiate and/or recommend Changes-In-Status and eliminate ordinary operating difficulties.
  • Lead and direct a team of (SSC) personnel in a team environment, working to ensure compliance with standardized processes.
  • Ensure transactions related to Accounts Receivable (AR) invoices and payments are completed timely and accurately.
  • Work closely with AR Manager regarding internal and external customer inquiries of invoices and payments, and serves as the primary escalation point for customer disputes.
  • Ensure the customer account base is managed properly and the primary relationship is maintained with the Accounts Payable (AP) department at each customer.
  • Lead coordination of debt collections with customers per contract terms and conditions, ensuring accurate results and, if applicable, that all associated documentation is properly completed, processed and mailed/received in a timely manner.
  • Manage follow-up work on past due invoices and provide customers with the communication and documentation required to ensure timely payment.
  • Ensure inter-company customer accounts are in accordance with company policy and accounting standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Work through complex accounting issues to identify the root cause, correct the issue, and when necessary, the process.
  • Oversee internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area of study and 3+ years of field experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience with SAP and accounts receivable transactions
  • Knowledge of AR and/or Shared Services (AP/AR) financial systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management
  • Solid organization and time/project management skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills


    Preferred Skills and experience:
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex customer service requests
  • Experience in the Automotive industry
  • German and/or Spanish language skills
