Position Description

The position of Camera Product Architect is a key leadership role within ZF’s Technology Development team and is responsible to help define strategy and establish product direction. Together with ZF’s division leadership, and through proactive engagement of the cross-functional team, you will effectively drive and manage all advanced camera and image processing System, Hardware & Architecture topics resulting in innovative, high-quality and cost-effective solutions for next generation products supporting ADAS & AD.

Position Description:

  • Proactive engagement of internal and external (OEM) customers to fully comprehend and explore current and future functional requirements to ensure robust system and architecture solutions.

  • As the technical lead based in the U.S. for future camera and image processing architectures, you have the responsibility and opportunity to innovate, drive change and foster an environment for success.

  • Through frequent interactions with the global ZF team, you will be actively involved in strategic discussions & workshops to develop and define system architectures that meet the challenges of future ADAS & AD performance expectations.

  • Working closely with customer teams and OEMs, you will share your expertise and knowledge through face-to-face discussions and presentations targeted to deliver a clear, concise and effective message of technical innovation, quality and scalability for the entire portfolio of camera and image processing products.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Technical expert and lead system architect/hardware engineer supporting OEM engagements and internal discussions of future camera and image processing architectures.

  • Lead/support strategic initiative definition to deliver the next generation scalable camera architectures supporting both ADAS and AD.

  • Lead and host weekly alignment project team meetings.

  • Prepare and present clear and concise subject matter and analyses to senior & executive level managers.

  • Identify new and strategic partners and/or suppliers that bring innovative and cost-effective solutions to enhance ZF’s product portfolio.

  • Lead/support OEM & ZF advanced development projects for prototyping and evaluation of new architectures and product integrations.

Preferred Skills And Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend high-level system performance expectations, establish requirements, develop schematics, support & direct PCB layout, build and debug prototypes and deliver product to end-customers.

  • Effective and efficient communicator to all management levels and audiences.

  • Experience in managing projects, establishing milestones & meeting deliverables on-time and within budget.

  • Subject matter expert in the areas of system architecture and hardware design, and ADAS/AD functions.

  • Understanding and practical application of high-speed component use and PCB design.

  • Working knowledge of hardware/software interfaces & architectures.

  • Comprehensive understanding of PCB assembly processes and DFM.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of embedded automotive ECU development for ADAS/AD.

  • Working knowledge of CMOS image sensors and PCB/component best practices.

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, tools and demonstrated ability to direct the engineering team to resolution.

  • Understanding of optics and optical systems and the best practices to be employed for ADAS/AD systems.

  • Knowledge of ASIL (QM – D) and the relevant system, hardware and software interactions required to achieve the desired level.

  • Clear understanding of Worst-Case Analysis and DFMEA proficiency.

  • Working knowledge of schematic and PCB design tools

Position Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in an engineering/technical field leading electronics development is required.
  • 15 years of more of experience in the field with ADAS-specific experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
