Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer – Machining

Required Skills
  • Superior knowledge of machined product design, materials, CNC machining techniques & equipment (preferential Swiss type lathes knowledge), tools and processes.
  • Superior knowledge of Grinding processes (center and center less equipment).
  • Ability to draft capital expenditure justifications.
  • Knowledge of knurling (rolling) processes (highly preferred).
  • Robust experience developing CNC programs to support estimating and production requirements.
  • Ability to develop process controls.
  • Specific knowledge and program / design capability for CNC Lathe and Swiss machining.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis, process improvements, tooling and fixture design.
  • Hands on experience CNC equipment.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, including, but not limited to: customer Bills of Materials, specifications and tolerances.
  • Ability to develop and monitor training instructions.
  • Plant and equipment layout experience.
  • Ability to evaluate equipment capacity and utilization.
  • Robust experience on Press fit process for mechanical subassemblies (interference fit assembly)
  • Hydraulic balancing process & equipment
  • Knowledge of cutting Tools (carbides, High Speed Steel, PCD)
  • Cutting Tools Development
  • Development of fixtures and tooling for model changes
  • Implementing model changes
  • Integrating new Machining part numbers
  • Development of machining processes
  • Engineering Change Implementation
  • Development and maintenance of process documentation (process sheets, model change sheets, proofing Error)
  • Troubleshooting tools (8D ' s, Six Sigma Green Belt)
  • GD&T System Management
  • Management of floor measurement systems (optical gauge, micrometers, Vernier, tool centering)
  • Development of suppliers for tools and machining
  • Development of documents for new equipment quotes and refurbishments.
  • Plant and vendor process testing and debugging
  • Cycle time (tak Time)
  • Core Tools (AMEF, PPAP, MSA, APQP, SPC,CP)
  • Solid knowledge IATF 16948 / TS16949
