We have an exciting opportunity within our Global Electronics team for the Director of Engineering Project Management and Quality to lead a consistent method to Engineering Project Management across the group to ensure consistent execution resulting in output while retaining quality. This requires a functioning matrix organization that ensures excellence in both specific disciplines as well as within cross functional project teams. This person will report directly to the VP of Engineering Strategy, Shared Services & Infrastructure, GEE.

This person will be integrated under this new role so that there is a singular driver for project execution, project quality and engineering transparency across all GEE, independent of product line. The respective engineering project management and quality teams within each GEE product line will either directly or functionally report to this new role.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring professional project management and quality management across GEE.
  • Ensuring proper project setup, work package completion, and on time execution of projects according to the project schedule by leading project managers and teams.
  • Lead cross domain engineering topics including cross product line, cross project and cross domain issues.
  • Controlling project budgets by understanding project spending and executing actions to recover as needed.
  • Leading cross domain engineering topics.
  • Develop and implement career path for Engineering Project Managers.
  • Leading the overall GEE engineering process definition and ensuring compliance by Implement varying layers of quality controls on an organizational and project level to ensure high quality output (i.e. project reviews, third party work package reviews, etc).
  • Gathering and analyzing engineering metrics, defining actions and driving closure.
  • Continuous improvement within engineering across projects/products line.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality of work products generated by the teams.
  • The person will also be responsible for driving project excellence across the entire GEE organization with an accompanying matrixed project budget of >$375M annually. The responsibility will include all project types including core, application, support and plant support.

Key Competencies:
  • Strong leadership and management skills – preferred program management experience encompassing an entire development cycle on at least one major program or purchasing experience in the international environment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement
  • Proven experience in low cost country source or supply base development
  • Ability to work cross functionally and support/drive teamwork
  • Financial acumen, analytical and negotiation skills required
  • Diversity and cultural sensitivity
  • Strong understanding of ZF products and ZF organization
  • Strong understanding/experience in accepted automotive industry quality systems and methods (APQP, QS, TS and related practices)

Education and Experience:
  • BSc or BEng Degree. Masters/MBA preferred.
  • 8+ Years’ experience related to Project Management and/or Quality.
  • 8+ Years’ experience with problems solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, Ishikawa, 5 why, etc.
  • 8+ Years Automotive experience related to Automotive Engineering such as Embedded Software, Electronics, Mechatronics, Vehicle Dynamics, Safety, etc.
  • Experience with engineering development process including ASPICE, IS026262, CMMI, etc.
