Position Description

As part the Global Electronics Engineering (GEE) Braking Electronics Team you will support and perform various ISO 26262 safety analyses on high performance Brake Control Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for multiple global customers. Product development focuses on Slip Control Systems (SCS) and Integrated Brake Controls (IBC) applications.


Position Requirements

  • Support and perform various ISO 26262 safety analyses on product’s system and hardware:
    • Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)
    • FMEA
    • HWFM (Hardware Fault Metrics, SPFM/LFM)
    • Fault Tree Analysis / Dependent Failure Analyses
  • Specify safety requirements and safety concepts for Braking Electronics hardware architecture
  • Process Owner for ECU System & Safety Engineering including supporting Management Deliverables.
  • Primary point of contact for Systems and Safety requests related to Product Development of IBC and SCS ECU applications.
  • Interface between Functional Safety Teams on Safety Goals and Metrics that will drive the ECU design.
  • Collaborate with the design team to design effective technical solutions aimed to achieve adequate robustness at System, Hardware and Software architectural level
  • Coordination of Systems and Safety Engineering approach with GEE Braking Koblenz Germany Team.
  • Strong electronics background in circuit analysis.
  • Communicate with ZF customers and internal ZF groups including Engineering, manufacturing, quality and program management to identify functional safety issues.
  • Prepare appropriate documentation and presentation material to effectively communicate technical subject matter to audiences at the working level and at the Senior Management level.
  • Provide Managerial, Technical and Project Leadership to ZF TRW ECU Systems & Safety Engineering Team, and contract electronics engineering Onsite and Offshore Team (Approximately 20 Engineers).
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required domestically and internationally. No ongoing or planned travel.


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of automotive experience working with automotive ECUs.
  • Experience in electronics / systems / software design and development.
  • Experience in the application of standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508 and ASPICE.
  • Open communication skills, speak efficiently and listen to others.
  • Ability to identify corrective and preventative actions through disciplined problem-solving approach.
  • Strong program management and communication/networking skills.
  • Knowledge of Hardware and Software interfaces, as well as the HW/SW architecture.
  • Experience managing subcontracted engineering resources (e.g. for analysis and verification work).~cb~
