Job Description

This engaging placement offers the opportunity to be part of the Mechatronics Core Engineering team within the Steering department.
Electric drives bring together motor, power electronic, sensing, signal processing, and motor control technologies.
Electric drives developed by the team in Solihull can be found within the electric power steering and braking systems of millions of vehicles on the road today.

Your task:

  • Simulate the performance of electric drives
  • Contribute to the design of prototype motors
  • Assist with building and testing prototype motors and control electronics
  • Write complex scripts for modelling and data processing
  • Develop and implement test procedures
Your profile:
  • Good ‘A’ level (or equivalent) grades in mathematics and physics
  • Completion of 2nd year MEng course in electrical/electronic engineering or electromechanical systems engineering and be on-target for at least a 2:1 degree
  • Have studied modules in electromagnetic theory, analogue electronics, digital electronics, control, programming, technical drawing and engineering materials
  • Have experience of practical engineering through a hobby or a design and technology course at school
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new tools, techniques and technologies
