Position Description

The main goal of this position is to create and evaluate cost reduction ideas from a technical and commercial point of view for Electronics and Advanced Driver Assist Division. You’ll be part of a global team which is focusing on optimizing the value of our products, without sacrificing quality. Your daily work will contain all aspects of the product development process within ZF and you will interface with multiple departments internally as well as with suppliers and customers.

Position Requirements

  • Create and evaluate cost reduction ideas through technical and commercial analysis and data gathering during the whole Product Life Cycle (Value Engineering + Value Analysis).
  • Increases profitability by driving design changes or substituting suppliers reducing overall BOM cost.
  • Facilitate cross functional workshops to develop cost reduction ideas.
  • Lead technical discussions and cross-functional project meetings.
  • Visit suppliers (global locations) to analyze their manufacturing process/materials/tooling costs.
  • Work with the Test and Validation group to plan and maintain timing to validate the cost-reduction ideas.
  • Present cost reduction ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support Design to Cost by generating design alternatives to achieve the product cost targets.
  • Provide relevant reporting for cost decisions (status reports of ongoing activities, progress towards savings target implementation, and forward workshop planning).
  • Drive design changes through engineering systems using established engineering processes (e.g. CPR, SRC, TRB, and CRB).
  • Be able to lead teams without direct authority.
  • Be able to tailor presentations to various audience (technical group vs. to the Vice President)

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Supply-Chain with general technical understanding of Electronic/Mechanical components is required.
  • Ability to adapt to quick technology changes within the Automotive Electronics field is a must.
  • Understanding of electronics product design and packaging.
  • Ability to understand the basics on how parts are manufactured, and what changes could yield cost savings is desired.
  • Previous cost reduction by design improvement experience is desired.
  • Persistence to challenge the existing knowledge and interest in product costs.
  • Flexible, open minded, self-motivated and with an ability to work on own initiative.
  • Enjoy working in a global team, willing to travel.
  • Fluent in English language. ~cb~
