Position Description

Lead / guide Engineering activities for complex multi-faceted Engineering programs and associated technical strategy for ongoing and future Steering projects with Ford. The position requires good organizational skills and strong communication with internal and external customers.

Position Requirements

  • Proactively drive new development and validation of existing engineering changes / cost reduction initiatives to ensure fulfillment to the program timeline
  • Determine objectives and formulate plans and procedures, assign priorities and manage engineering programs to achieve flawless and timely delivery
  • Strong collaboration, if not lead cross functional activities with regional and global counterparts in Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and supplier base
  • Facilitate generation of cost reduction initiatives which achieve or exceed the operative plan targets.
  • Conduct design reviews, approve design verification plans, assess design verification results, and recommend action as appropriate.
  • Lead problem solving activity in critical areas of the business utilizing TRW techniques
  • Provide regular reporting to engineering management team on progress of initiatives
  • Lead development and coordination of new project/program proposals.
  • Communicate technical requirements to support the business case evaluation.
  • Transition and align approved future projects to engineering organization once funding is approved.
  • Alert organization(s) to resource synergy opportunities and timing alignments.
  • Monitor and track activities according to the engineering program milestones
  • Support lean/efficient program management processes which can be implemented within the Global organization
  • Generate and implement ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in an Engineering field
  • 7+ years of experience preferred in engineering, preferably in the automotive steering and suspension industry
  • Able to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management
  • Self-starter and motivated with a strong desire to produce high quality result
  • Ability to work in a team setting and individually;
  • Personable with ability to communicate and present to both internal and external customers;
  • Thorough knowledge of product engineering as it relates to the region's products
