Job Description

Responsibilities

• Identify deficiencies in equipment from operation and original design to force equipment failure; serve as an internal consultant for issues related to maintenance controls in troubleshooting and problem-solving scenarios.
• Develop solutions and ensure the completion of long-term elimination of controls deficiencies; develop alternatives for controls equipment replacement, upgrade or program revisions that improve equipment performance, and overall equipment reliability.
• Develop, concepts for the network (e.g. Ethernet, Profibus, etc.) and automations.
• Develop and implement programming improvements and controls systems involving PLC’s and PC’s
• Provide technical guidance and expertise in the modification of hardware, software, electrical and power transmission control systems to improve safety, reliability, and throughput, costs of ownership and operational readiness of manufacturing equipment.
• Work with customer and/or internal manufacturing engineering teams on improvements to manufacturing equipment controls.
• Respond to the needs and questions of shop floor users concerning their access and use of shop floor PLC applications, applications issues and training needs
• Communicate and provides technical clarification of issues and solutions to both maintenance and non-maintenance personnel in the function, operation, troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment controls.
• Respond to the needs and questions of shop floor users concerning their access and use of shop floor PLC applications, applications issues and training needs.
• Update program backup files and associated documentation to support overall maintenance operations.
• Plan, design and select technical solutions for planned and corrective actions or continuous improvements.
• Ensure maximum up-time on all manufacturing equipment to include but not limited to machining, heat treat, assembly equipment, shop equipment, ASRS and facilities.
• Provide training (classroom and on-the-job) and technical guidance
• Provide technical clarification for troubleshooting
• Plan  corrective actions
• Ensure the optimal programming of automation and controls systems involving PLC’s/PC’s  and associated controls including a common programming strategy for robots
• Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to the team efforts.
• Maintain professional technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Comply with all TS16949 policies procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 3 – 4 years of professional engineering experience in manufacturing environment, specifically focused on production automation and/or controls software/hardware (includes Co-Op or internship experience)
• Expert Knowledge in modifying hardware and software
• Experience with controls engineering and/or software/hardware for shop floor PC’s/PLC’s
• Develop upgrade or program of PLC Programming
• Experience with Seimens Step7 and/or related automation modules/software (i.i. S7 High Graph, Sinumeric 840D, Siemens Solutionline, etc.)
• Experience with control fault analysis/isolation
• Experience with motion control devices such as servo motors and controllers, in addition to experience with HMI(human machine interface) operation and programming
• Working knowledge of industrial I/O (input/output) devices and networks
• Working knowledge of PLC logic and Hydraulic/Pneumatic/Mechanical components/parts functionalities for manufacturing equipment
• Working knowledge of communication networks such as ETHERNET and Profibus/Profinet.
• Experience HMI and Scanner
• Basic Scripting
• Ability to read logic/flow diagrams for program design, programming simulation, testing and start-up
• Ability to read, understand, generate  and edit engineering drawing/prints (i. e. CAD)- in both electrical and mechanical – in DIN/ISO standard format (in metrics)
• Ability to analyze blueprints and use mathematics to evaluate/understand complex machine drawings
• Ability to understand/edit PLC programs for machine and process applications(WINCC)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and levels of personal/managements
• Solid time management and planning abilities
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong drive for teamwork with a customer-oriented approach to projects
• Superior interpersonal, communication and listening skills
• English language competency – both oral and written
