Engineer II - Tool Design


Responsibilities

• Order tooling, maintain budget and manage vendor base
• In conjunction with Maintenance Teams, Production Management, OEM & Mfg Engineering develops & maintains an effective preventive maintenance program (including repair, modification & installation of process Fixtures and Tooling) to facilitate production efficiency & ensure optimal machine operation.
• Responsible for maintaining and continually improving document control process compliant with IATF 16949 for realizing & revising tooling prints and CAD associated with the new current tooling.
• Responsible for revising and updating all current tooling prints and CAD to current tooling requirements.
• Kan-Ban implementation and continuous improvement of processes.
• Verification that Tooling meets purchase order and print requirements.
• Verify tooling though the use of measurement inspection equipment to confirm incoming tooling meets all dimensional and material specifications.
• Assist toolmakers with troubleshooting.
• Assist troubleshooting by working with operators, Engineers and suppliers
• Assist the continuous testing, documentation and recommendation of new tooling and technologies
• Evaluate tooling sheets for standardization, application and usages to ensure best practice.               
• Continually creates Tooling specifications & availability of mechanical components; drawings, spares, stocking levels, to fully meet daily Tooling maintenance/production requirements. Including the refurbishment of tools, fixtures, internally and thru external resources.
• Maintains warranty tracking of machine failed Tooling to minimize MRO inventory and associated costs.
• Ensure proper administration of company, state, local & federal sponsored programs i.e. safety, environmental, and workforce control.
• Make recommendations for improvement of programs & practices to prevent repeated failures & reverse adverse trends.
• Maintain associated equipment in a state of readiness & safe operating procedures when utilizing hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, and measuring/testing instruments.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, manuals, & schematic drawings to facilitate repairs & aid in Tooling
troubleshooting.
• Coordinate material & manpower planning with full utilization of SAP PM Module (maintenance operating system) and Axalant for planning & execution of maintenance/engineering tasks, with full documentation.
• Adhere and reinforce all housekeeping SOP's in/around the work areas, and maintenance campus, utilizing best in class 5S standards.
• Understands and supports work in accordance to all ISO/TS/QS standards and supporting documentation.
• Supports and complies with established Company’s Corporate Principles.
• Other duties as it relates to this position.


Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• Minimum of 3 years related experience
• Solid experience in problem-solving and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to read, to analyze, and interpret customer drawings tooling drawings, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Strong hands-on electro-mechanical skills in CNC Lathe, Mills, Grinders, Wire EDM etc.
• Proven ability to use resources efficiently (manpower, materials) when planning, troubleshooting. .
• Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) SAP Project and AutoCAD 2D software, Maintenance/other MOS (maintenance operating system) experience, with Axalant.
• Proficient in requirements of local, state & federal laws as required for industrial manufacturing (i.e. OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.)
• Ability to wear all required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses w/fixed side shields, hearing protection & safety shoes) as required.
