Job Responsibilities:

OSS Engineering representative to OEM customer(s) for safety-related mechanical devices incorporating embedded electronic controllers. Responsible to manage technical and product launch interfaces to the customer. Coordinate resolution of issues among OSS product line functional teams. Promote current and future ZF technologies. Obtain and positively influence customer-supplier metrics. Identify and define actions to secure future program acquisitions. Provide regular reports and Voice of the Customer feedback to the ZF organization and appropriate functional groups. In some cases, may be delegated release responsibility by the OEM at the customer’s site.

This position is responsible for establishing and cementing a positive customer relationship, managing communication with the customer, and monitoring critical project status and issues between the customer and ZF Engineering and Quality. He/she represents the engineering competence of ZF Occupant Safety Systems, complementary to the Account Director, and is the “first customer” of the OSS Engineering Product Line, System Application and Design groups. Establishes OSS Engineering as a preferred active-safety design partner for his/her key customer(s).


  • Seat Belt and/or Electronics (HW/SW) experience preferred.
  • Requires ability to diagnose and root-cause technical and process issues. Demonstrated customer liaison/contact experience is desirable.
  • Effective communication skills will be needed to interact with senior Engineering,
  • Purchasing, Quality and Manufacturing staffs within ZF and at the customer. Diplomacy and empathy to represent the customer’s interests to ZF, while advocating for ZF at the customer.
  • Safe, competent driving skills are required for customer Proving Ground certification and access.
  • Travel required: approximately 10-20% within North America; up to 5% international.
  • Experience required is 4 to 6 years for Senior Engineer, and 7 to 10 years for Principal Engineer.


Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
