Job Title:
Engineering Manager – FCA Customer Applications, Brake Controls

General Role Description:
Manage Customer Applications Engineering team, to lead brake controls projects through all phases of development (new business hunting, through production support). Responsible for ABS/ESC, and next generation electrified brake boost technologies (IBC) within the North American Brake Engineering organization. In addition, work globally with OEM to align product offerings and implementation strategies.

  • Workload and resource planning
  • Team development planning, performance assessment, and compensation planning
  • Mentoring
  • Administrative approvals
Product strategy & new business development
  • Provide input into product planning to align future products with customer needs & requirements.
  • Work with customers and Sales to identify and assess new business opportunities
  • Lead Engineering team to support new business hunting activities
  • Manage product tailoring through new business development opportunities
  • Assess engineering costs to support business case development and customer quote processes
  • Ensure effective requirements analysis and customer negotiations for technical deliverables
  • Work with customers to assess and demonstrate new technologies (host, support demo’s)
Product development
  • Ensure on-time delivery to customer commitments
  • Ensure projects are delivered to agreed to requirements (vehicle performance, durability, NVH, etc.)
  • Ensure projects are managed to established Systems Engineering processes
  • Drive continuous improvement of Engineering processes
  • Ensure effective management of both TRW and customer driven changes
  • Ensure effective collaboration between Engineering teams to resolve issues and meet objectives
Production support
  • Support ZF-TRW manufacturing and quality teams in resolving production issues
  • Support warranty analysis team to ensure timely analysis and resolution of quality issues
  • Work with ZF-TRW quality team to ensure effective support of customer manufacturing plants through launch
  • Support assessment and implementation of new suppliers, process changes, and cost reductions
Customer relationship
  • Maintain regular communication with customer management to maintain open channels of communication
  • Develop trust through personal and team interactions with customer

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering
Minimum 10 years experience in automotive Engineering or similar field
Strong understanding of fundamentals of electro-mechanical control systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation skills
Strong leadership skills
Strong planning skills
Process oriented
Understanding of requirements analysis & management practices
Ability to travel globally
Prior management & leadership experience strongly preferred
