Position Description

The Global Materials Manager will focus on supplier management and the development and execution of the materials strategy including: capacity planning and utilization, master production scheduling protocols, allocation management, inventory turns and freight optimization. This position is responsible for the coordination of planning, logistics and inventory management across the GE plants.


Position Requirements

  • Develop and align global materials strategies with internal customers and partners across the seven GE plants to achieve GE’s long-term business objectives and goals. For example, the individual will be responsible for coordinating capacity verifications against demand for new product launches (working with plant materials departments, program management and purchasing).
  • Responsible for maintaining supplier health check/stop light report used to identify near term supply chain constraints. Individual will be responsible for facilitating global parts shortages/allocations and assisting plant materials departments with other shortage concerns.
  • Individual should be regarded as the expert for enterprise resource planning (ERP). For example, individual will need to be the business processes expert and provide guidance to master schedulers, launch coordinators, program buyers and other personnel directly involved in supply chain efficiencies.
  • Champion of change capable of driving measurable results that translate to bottom line improvements. Individual is responsible for driving freight optimization (air, ocean, LTL, premium services) across all sites. Will act as the Asset Light representative and coordinator of global inventory reduction projects.
  • Work with plant Materials Managers to cultivate talent across each of the GE plants to support the development of a robust materials organization with a culture of strong engagement, accountability and high performance.
  • Negotiate contracts (terms and conditions) with strategic suppliers by leveraging supplier capabilities, business opportunities and global demand profiles. Responsible for assisting the purchasing function with negotiations of favorable payment terms (INCOTERMS, Consignment, 3rd Party warehousing, etc.).


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • 6-8 years of experience required.


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 8-10 years of experience preferred.~cb~
