Position Summary:
Provides professional HR guidance, analysis, and administration in employee relations, training, recruiting, benefits, etc.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing professional HR guidance, analysis, and administration in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, recruiting, labor relations, affirmative action planning, and benefit programs. This includes managing employee relations / labor relations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with employees and management to develop and implement various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
  • Serve as internal consultant to management and employees on a variety of human resources policies and procedures, recommending appropriate decisions or courses of action, and documenting decisions for consistent application
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager in the management of employee relations / labor relations.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze data in order to formulate ideas for the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement; participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Respond to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, health and safety concerns, and civil rights complaints; support training and orientation efforts as needed for the site.
  • Manage the recruiting process for responsible area, including but not limited to: reviewing applications/resumes, scheduling and participating in applicant interviews to fill administrative, professional, and technical job openings; participate in the development of staffing processes and any job fair activities.
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager in the discipline process with ZF management; provide advice to supervisors and professionals regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws.
  • Prepare and conduct location-wide presentations and training on various topics, including benefits, 401(k) retirement plans, policies, salary continuation, legal and ethical compliance, harassment, diversity, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Maintain records and reports to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Ensure general safety compliance and manage workers compensation claims process.
  • Administer and/or support local wellness programs; encourage participation and local buy-in.
  • Perform compensation analysis and propose salary adjustments
  • Manage the contract workforce staffing process
  • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Partner with site leadership on identifying and coordinating training needs for new hires and current employees
  • Participate in HR staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars in the organization as needed.
  • Ensure local compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Comply with all applicable ISO policies, practices and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in HR, Organizational Development, Labor Relations, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in the field of HR (i.e. working as a HR Specialist, HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, etc.)
  • Experience with recruiting technical personnel at all levels of the business
  • Experience with an HRIS system and maintenance of related data and employee records
  • Proven ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, government regulations or employment law.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proven creativity and analytical methods with a high-level of attention to detail
  • Relevant experience in improving employee engagement and retention
  • Experience interacting with members of a global team
  • Working knowledge of USCIS requirements for work authorization and permanent residency applications
  • Experience in developing and reviewing compensation levels
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • English language competency - both written and oral
Preferred Skills and experience:
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field
  • Experience and/or deep knowledge of employment law and related government regulations/compliance
  • Experience in the Automotive industry
