IT Trend Scout
ZF Transmissions Gray Court

Position Summary: Identify, evaluate and champion promising IT trends, which are valuable for ZF to implement or watch in the future.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, share and champion promising IT to position ZF's IT organization to anticipate business needs. IT trends include: software (i.e.: SAP HANA), hardware (i.e. In-memory database technology), methods (i.e.: Design Thinking, SCRUM)
  • Actively contribute and maintain a ZF Trend Radar
  • Lead or participate in Agile teams to drive implementation of innovative IT topics
  • Advise internal customers and be a passionate advocate of identified promising IT technology
  • Contribute proactively to continuous optimization of processes, standards and way of working
  • Share and actively communicate insights and findings in a way that is understandable for anyone unfamiliar with the technology being discussed (e.g. within ZF IT and business innovation depts.)
  • In ZF intranet (audience >100,000 people), regularly publish written reports / articles / briefings about the identified IT Trend
  • Develop and deliver presentations about the identified IT Trends
  • Be the "Product Owner" of selected IT Trends and relentlessly push it within ZF
  • Attend trade shows/webinars/trainings to find disruptive and innovative trends and technologies.
  • Scouting at universities for ideas that could position ZF IT to be the catalyst for organizational or process change
  • Evaluate existing technologies in other industries (i.e. medical, aerospace, high tech) for adaptation to automotive industry processes
  • Read websites, databases and trade journals to gather in-depth knowledge about disruptive and innovative trends in order to become the "go to" person within IT Innovation about the topic
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10 - 20%)

    Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Associates degree in relevant technical field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in IT related field/Project Management
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and explain your topics
  • Reliable, flexible, self-motivated, driven to push projects or ideas forward
  • Ability to gather and concisely disseminate large amounts of information
  • Highly skilled at creating and delivering presentations (incl. PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a Project in a technology area
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and guide internal partners through technology needs analysis and opportunity assessments
  • Natural curiosity to discover new technologies and methodologies to imagine what could be possible
  • Business understanding and strong business orientation

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • High knowledge of business processes at ZF or other automotive company
  • Experience working on a global team
  • Agile project management experience
  • Communication skills in language besides English is a plus
