Position Description

The Global Electronics business unit provides advanced driver assist, steering, braking and passive safety modules to all major automotive OEMs either directly or via other ZF facilities.The Supplier Development function is responsible for all APQP and PPAP activity for production parts coming into the business unit.

As a key leader within the global team, the Supplier Development Manager will be responsible for a team of Supplier Development Engineers located in the US and Mexico as well as taking the global lead for key commodities and product portfolios.This will involve supporting APQP and PPAP activity, taking an active part in sourcing decisions and improving the performance of the supply base through pro-active development activities.

Position Requirements
  • Lead, manage, and develop the Global Electronics SDE Team in North America. Direct reports include SDEs in Farmington Hills, MI and in Mexico.
  • Support global SDE Manager and SDE team to develop suppliers and ensure flawless launches
  • Partner with the SQA Team to improve supplier performance in serial production
  • Ensure compliance with ZF BPM (Business Policy Manual), Global Supplier Quality Manual (GSQM), and TS16949
  • Achieve KPIs such as Supplier On-Time PPAP, Launch Performance, Supplier PPM, Supplier A Concerns, LPAs, etc.
  • Support Purchasing & Quality SAPs
  • Take an active part in Sourcing Committees and Matched Teams
  • Communicate and collaborate globally with internal customers (Management, Engineering, Program Teams, Operations, Quality, NPIs, Commodity Teams, etc.), suppliers, external customers as require
  • Direct, monitor, and review supplier APQP activities (control plans, PFMEA, process flow, SPC, Run at Rate, PPAP, etc.) and ensure processes are completed to ZF standards and delivered on-time
  • Assist team members and suppliers in problems solving effectiveness including root cause analysis through implementation of corrective actions
  • Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans, improve supplier performance, and achieve cost reduction targets.
  • This position requires around 30% travel

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor Degree. Primary studies in Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Materials/Logistics or Supply Chain preferred
  • Must have at least 10 years of related experience, including experience in the supplier/OEM automotive environment
  • Experienced with manufacturing processes and working in production environments
  • Understand, interpret, and apply global quality standards (ISO-9001, TS-16949 and VDA)
  • Ability to conduct supplier assessments, complete and analyze APQP / PPAP / Capability data
  • Ability to support the development and implementation of strategies within the assigned team
  • Experience working with a global team

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Certification as Greenbelt in Six Sigma preferred, or similar problem-solving/process improvement methodology
  • Current professional certifications highly desired ~cb~
