Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: Support specification and development of new manufacturing processes and/or design improvements to existing processes to meet requirements. Conducts engineering studies involving work measurements, production standards setting, capacity planning, and cost analysis.
  • Responsible for the activities related to the support of Printed Circuit Board Assembly processes including analyzing & improving quality, capacity, and capability.
  • Develop and maintain capacity planning models for multiple manufacturing lines and testing areas. Provide summary reports to middle and upper management.
  • Lead in the development & design of plant layout strategies in support of multiple manufacturing lines.
  • Assist in the development and justification of Capital Expenditures.
  • Provide technical support to various groups in support of new product launches. Activities include: establishing labor standards, capacity analysis, manufacturing layouts, and procurement of product handling, i.e., conveyors.
  • Assist in identifying & driving continuous improvement activities in Engineering and Manufacturing to achieve a Lean Mfg. Environment.
  • Project management of medium to large scope projects to timely & successful completion within budget.
  • Apply verbal and written communications skills in periodic and special reports/presentations.
  • Operates basic PC and software plus ability to support CAD (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Assistance is furnished on unusual problems, and work is audited for application of sound professional judgment.
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making any adaptations or modifications.
  • Performs work that involves common types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment.
  • Requires average level supervision contact from Principal Engineer and/or manager.
  • Assistance in the development and coordination of a 5-year plant capital budget.
  • Provide process input into CR’s (Customer Requests for Quote) for new and existing products. Input will consist of the following: labor projections, process cycle times, and target production line based upon available capacity.
  • Develop manufacturing labor standards through the process of conducting time studies and inputting data into labor models.
  • Support the development of product routings in a SAP enterprise resource planning system.
  • Support Process Engineering and Product Engineering on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities and continuous improvement projects as related to: Cycle Times & Line Balance, Methods, and Ergonomics.
  • Act as a liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering for continuous improvement activities in support of obtaining a Lean Manufacturing Environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with and support the health, safety, and environmental programs, policies and procedures.
