Position Description

This purpose of this role is to manage and develop suppliers and parts for new programs of NA Braking. This role is critical to meeting objectives to improve Launch Performance, Current Model Quality, and support the Global SDE footprint. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Direct, monitor and review supplier APQP activities (control plans, PFMEA, process flow, SPC, run at rate, PPAP, etc.) and ensure processes are completed to ZF standards and are delivered on-time
  • Assist suppliers in problem solving effectiveness including root cause analysis through implementation of corrective actions
  • Conduct supplier assessments
  • Work with suppliers to develop continuous improvement plans and metrics to monitor performance and continuously improve quality and process and achieve cost reduction targets
  • Interface with Customers on critical supplier issues as necessary
  • Lead supplier APQP kick-off meetings and supplier design reviews
  • Active member in the ZF Sourcing Committee
  • Participate, as needed, on ZF Teams and effectively interact with other ZF technical departments and Assembly Plant personnel to find creative solutions to constraints
  • This position requires regional and international travel - approximately 50%

Qualifications
  • Must have at least eight (8) years directly related experience, including experience in supplier/OEM environment
  • Experienced with manufacturing processes and production environments
  • Experience in bearings, stampings, mechanical components and heat treatment preferred
  • Understands interpretation and application of global quality standards (ISO-9001 & IATF-19649, and VDA 6.3)
  • Ability to conduct supplier assessments, complete and analyze APQP/PPAP/Capability data
  • Effective in working with a global team
  • Knowledge and application of Value Engineering, Lean and Six Sigma is a plus
  • Must be highly motivated, able to multi-task, set priorities and be goal oriented
  • Must have a proven ability to lead functional teams, work independently and obtain goal-oriented results; computer literacy; a high level of independent judgment and strong negotiation; communications; analytical and leadership skills
  • Ability to represent ZF to outside suppliers and Customers in a professional manner on technical issues.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent required
  • Candidates with metallurgical/materials engineering and or ASQ certifications (or similar) such as Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, or Certified Green/Black belt will be given preference
  • ISO-9000/IATF16949 Lead Assessor training/certification is desired.

3-5 years in quality or manufacturing environment.
IATF-16949 and VDA Lead Assessor Certification a plus.
