Position Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible in developing, implementing, communicating and maintaining a supplier quality plan to bring the suppliers Quality System and Policies into compliance with ZF and customer specific requirements. Effectively interact with Engineering, Materials, Quality, Production and Development team to establish and maintain standards. Position will also be responsible for direct communication to internal and external customers with regards to purchased materials, in-process material and finished production to assure the quality control standards are achieved and should support to Investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, provide problem solving expertise, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects.


Position Requirements

  • Direct customer representative; interface for all supplier quality customer activities. Maintain and/or improve customer satisfaction levels
  • Responsible for Supplier Quality Management Systems of TS16949, VDA 6.3, ISO and CQI’s
  • Develop and maintain overall Supplier Quality Improvement Plans.
  • Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s
  • Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement activities across supplier quality systems and the supply base
  • Manage activities in investigation systems and reports (VIN, QCCAR, 8D, Cost Recovery, Supplier Quality Certification, etc.)
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the and validate implementation of solutions
  • Provide input to plant supplier quality functions & decisions
  • Manage and coordinate supplier quality assurance functions including corrective action activities
  • Train employees in QSM, GSQM, VIN and other ZF TRW systems; Develop and mentor individuals for whom you have responsibility
  • Participates in the establishment and implementation of quality specifications, testing procedures and standards for raw material and for process and finished products
  • Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented
  • Responsible for engaging strong intradepartmental and cross-functional/organizational relationships to drive compliance to internal and customer quality systems
  • Provide leadership and facilitates problem resolution and resource utilization within the SQA team members
  • Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes
  • Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base
  • Lead or participate in special cross-functional teams or in site-specific initiatives
  • Ability to travel 50% - 75% regionally and internationally


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in quality, suppliers, and quality systems in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of materials, processes and product coupled with specialized expertise in quality principles and theory, statistical methods and design experiments
  • Knowledge of PPAP & APQP
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 & ISO 14001
  • Knowledge of VDA 6.3
  • Must have excellent PC, communication and human relations skills with the ability to cross multiple levels of the organization


Preffered Skills and Experience

  • Six Sigma certification

Required:

• VDA Certified
