Position Description

The primary role of the Senior Warranty Manager is to oversee all activities related to product reliability, warranty, and field cost management.


Position Requirements

  • Manage warranty staff responsible for field return analysis, trend monitoring, root cause investigation and customer reporting. Staff consists of 4 direct report divisional engineers and 9 indirect report local engineers.
  • Interface with customer on significant warranty concerns. Coordinate activities with manufacturing, supplier quality and engineering personnel as necessary. Communicate any potential regulatory or safety concern to the product performance team (PPAC).
  • Develop and maintain warranty management procedures that are consistent with corporate business policy manual guidelines and are CQI-14 / TS16949 compliant.
  • Establish business unit quality/cost targets. Monitor performance to target and drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and approve all divisional warranty expenditures. Set up and maintain warranty accruals per Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) rules.
  • Lead predictive analysis activity used for new product development and current product concern investigations.
  • Support commercial group evaluation of new/modified contractual warranty terms & conditions.
  • Other duties and responsibilities:
    • Lead or participate in special cross-divisional or global initiatives, including but not limited to:
      • NTF reduction
      • Critical to Quality
      • Read Across / Lessons Learned


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Statistics, or related field
  • Experience in engineering, quality, and/or technical field with strong background in customer relations, product knowledge, problem solving, and successful project management.
  • Automotive experience with knowledge of OEM warranty systems is highly recommended.
  • Knowledge of materials, processes and product coupled with specialized expertise in quality principles and theory, statistical methods and design experiments
  • Knowledge of TS16949 and CQI-14


Preffered Skills and Experience

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • CRE/CQE Accreditation
