Job Description


Main Objectives
ZF is developing automatic passenger car transmissions for the Chinese market at our R&D center in Shanghai with support of our German R&D facilities. For our activities in Shanghai we are looking for a Test Engineer who is supporting all testing activities like test planning, customer/supplier contact and the support for the test bench operation for our application projects for 6-speed, 8-speed and 9-speed transmissions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Communication and coordination with COEMs and suppliers regarding all testing activities for our Automatic Transmission development
2. Take part in the project management team to make sure a successfully project running
3. Coordination and cooperation with different R&D departments and other functional departments
4. Communication with German headquarter to solve problems and bring the testing knowhow and competence to China local R&D center
5. Support the testing facility and competence build up in Shanghai
6. Work together with other testing team member in your department as a team
7. Willingness to travel domestic and abroad (oversea training, customer and supplier visits)
8. Preparation, execution, review and evaluation of tests for components and the overall transmission system in the vehicle and on test benches, including all necessary documentation
9. Involvement in the release of components and transmissions project in your area of responsibility.
10. Follow the guidelines and specifications established by R&D.
11. Review specifications and create spec sheets if necessary
12. Solve technical problems during the product testing
13. Organizational support for project tasks such as ordering of prototypes, evaluation of test characteristics, optimization of processes for a continuous quality improvement.
14. Other tasks and duties as related to this position
15. Depending on the final job definition, not all responsibilities have to be taken at the same time.

Basic Requirements
1. Working experience Mechanical engineering Working experience in the automotive industry is a plus
2. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
3. English Fluent English in spoken and written form
4. German German language skills are welcome but not a must
5. Computer MS office Package.
6. Calibration tool knowledge (e.g. INCA or CANape) is an asset
7. Analysis and visualization tool (e.g Famos) is an asset
8. Qualification C1 drive license   

Requirement, Professional Skills and Abilities
1. Interest and knowledge in the testing of automatic transmissions or similar areas
2. Knowledge about the different driveline type and technical function
3. Be able to understand technical drawings and specifications.
4. Active in communication and openly approach other people.
5. Must be able to work in a team setting and participate actively
6. Application of analytical thoughts in the problem-solving process
7. Willingness to travel to suppliers and ZF R&D sites in Asia and Germany.
8. Well-structured, organized, efficient and accurate working method.
9. Stress resistance with ability to work under pressure.
